The Academy

The Academy is a program designed for all levels of players. The purpose of the Academy is to prepare players for their high school tryouts, to introduce the game of volleyball to beginners who are hoping to play on their middle school and high school teams, and to learn to work as a group.  Therefore, the focus during the training sessions will be on the basics of volleyball: fundamental techniques of passing, serving, setting, hitting and blocking, and the six rotations focusing on serve receive and defensive positioning. Players will play all positions and teams will be different for each tournament! The Spring Academy has 3 different levels:Beginner – those who are new to the game and have not played before, or have played very little (example: YMCA league)Moderate – those who have played in a small league, such as development or prior Academy at TC Elite, but not played for a high school or travel team before.Advanced – those who have or currently play on their high school team or a travel team.

Players should sign up for the level they believe they fit best. However, high schoolers 10th grade and older should signup for the advanced session, as those in the moderate session are upcoming 9th graders and younger.

Practice begins the week of April 10 and ends May 20th. There will be two practices per week, and 3 tournaments.  Teams will be different each tournament so that we learn to work with new teammates each tournament!Tournaments are Saturday, May 6, 13, and 20th (location TBD)Practice days, times, and locations:Trinity Heights: 3820 Old Mooringsport Rd, Shreveport, LA 71107Southfield School 1100 Southfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106Beginner:Mondays and Wednesdays at Southfield 5-6:30PMModerate:Tuesdays and Thursdays at Trinity 6-7:30PMORMondays and Wednesdays at Southfield 6:30-8PMAdvanced:Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30-9PM at TrinityCost is $300.
